Dine with Celebrity Dads and Fight Male Cancer
27 February 2006
The bar & restaurant concept, Ha! Ha! is celebrating Fathers this June with a special menu dedicated to Dads!
Showcasing famous fathers and also celebrity sons and daughters, the new menu will unveil the nation's top ten Dad's dishes all raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research's Everyman Male Cancer Campaign.
Ha! Ha! questioned over 10,000 fathers in the UK to find out their favourites. Based on the results, the best ever Father's Day menu will be created and for every dish purchased, a donation of 10p will go to The Everyman Campaign.
The month long promotion will be launched on 1st June and coincides with Everyman's ninth annual Male Cancer Awareness Month as well as Father's Day (18th June).
In the form of a vintage photo album, the menu will be displayed on tables in all 26 Ha! Ha! venues across the country. Each page will depict a different region of the UK with the most popular dish for that area accompanied by a local Dad!
The menu also features celebrity fathers as well as famous sons and daughters including Atomic Kitten and now soloist Liz McClarnon. She comments "Dads are a great influence in our lives and should be celebrated! Health is so important so I urge other daughters (and sons!) to treat their Dads to a tasty lunch whilst raising money to help beat male cancers."
Mary Sharp, Managing Director at Ha! Ha! Bar & Canteen comments, "We hope our 'Dad's Dishes' campaign will be a huge success in raising awareness and funds for Everyman's vital research into male cancer. This area has been traditionally under-funded and our continued partnership with Everyman gives us the opportunity to help address this."
Prostate cancer kills one man every hour, and testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men aged 15-45. However, testicular cancer is 99% curable if caught early enough and so awareness is crucial. Women also play a key role in raising awareness as often they are the gatekeepers for the health of the men in their lives.
Ha! Ha! is determined to help raise awareness and so a full page of the menu will be dedicated to information on Everyman offering advice on how to be aware of male cancers.
