The UK Genetics of Testicular Cancer Study

  • Have you had testicular cancer?
  • Would you like to help with a research study that aims to identify some of the causes of testicular cancer?

Scientists at The Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital are conducting a large study of men with testicular cancer.  By studying DNA from this large group of men with testicular cancer, we aim to identify the genetic causes of testicular cancer.  This would enable us to identify men who are at high risk of the disease before the disease occurs: we could then target these men with the aim of detecting the disease earlier or even preventing it.   Our research will also help us to understand the biology of this disease which may enable us to develop better treatments.  We aim to collect 3,000 men from the UK with the disease.

To participate in this study you will have needed to have had testicular cancer and have completed your treatment.  You will then need to:
1. provide a small blood sample for genetic studies
2. complete a short questionnaire about yourself and your family.

If you would like more information about the study please download our patient information sheet.

If you are interested in participating please contact our study co-ordinator who will be happy to provide you with any additional information.  Alternatively, phone one of the research team on 0208 722 4053.
