The UK Genetic Prostate Cancer Study investigates the genetic causes of prostate

Through this study scientists at the ICR’s Everyman Centre have already discovered more than seven genetic factors which increase a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer. This is in addition to the BRCA1 and 2 genetic mutations which had already been identified.

This study is ongoing and scientists at the Everyman Centre hope to understand more about the genetic causes of prostate cancer.

The study is recruiting 21,000 patients with more than 100 hospitals across the UK involved in the research.
