Russell Cox

In 2010 Russell Cox, James Cox and Mike Keeling decided to take on the challenge of collectively taking part in half marathon's, iron men events and over 17 triathlon's to raise funds for, and awareness of, a great cause and one that is close to Russell’s heart.

Russell says “I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2007 and it was a huge shock as I was only 25 years old. I had surgery and after Chemotherapy I made a full recovery although even now I still go for regular checkups.

Having cancer changed my life dramatically, it was a big wake up call for me, and it has made me prioritise things totally differently. My health is really important to me now and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to take on this challenge because it’ll really be pushing my physical boundaries. I really hope it will inspire others to take more care about their own health and be aware of cancer because so many cases can be cured if caught at an early stage; it’s just about regularly checking yourself and knowing the early signs.”

Russell created a team called ‘Team Everyman’ and between them they took part in over 26 events across the country. The race calendar started on 9 May at Wilmslow Triathlon and finish on 3 October at the Warwickshire Triathlon.

Following his recovery from cancer Russell has been selflessly giving up his time to work with Everyman. He's been acting as an ambassador in his spare time, visiting schools, colleges and business’s in the midlands and North West spreading the message about male cancer to young men and women with the hope that it will save lives in the future.

So what's the next challenge for Russell?....conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, of course!
