Tips and Ideas

Organising your Big Stride should be a piece of cake with these tip's to hand!

Where to start?

That's easy - think about your friends and family, contacts and colleagues, and try to choose a walk which will suit their abilities.

If your participants vary in experience, you may decided to organise two routes varying in difficulty and/or length.

Choose a location

Would you prefer to walk in the city or country, woodland or riverside? Climb a mountain, trek across moorland or walk from one famous city landmark to another. You can choose any location for your Big Stride, just make sure you consider the logistics of the day, such as how you will get there or if parking is available.

To search for recommended walks in your area, visit Walking Britain or speak to your local tourist information centre.

On the day

Remember to plan your route before you set off, and think about both timings on the day and your breaks along the route. If you are walking in an isolated location, always carry a map, and make sure you have a fully charged mobile in case of an emergency.

It's also a good idea to carry a first aid kit and some additional plasters, just in case!
